We are unable to accept Cash Customers at the Wakefield Transfer Station until further notice due to technical issues with the Weighbridge, apologies for any inconvenience caused, updates will be provided in due course.
Due to ongoing issues at Royal Mail sorting depots, there are currently delays with some residents receiving their permits. Please take your proof of address to site with you and the team will be able to grant you access until your permit arrives.
Soil improver is now available to Wakefield residents from all of the Household Waste Recycling Centres, subject to availability. Please bring your own bag.

Aerosols icon

Aerosols

Empty aerosols can be placed in your brown recycling bin, or put in the can banks at your nearest Bring Site or Recycling Centre. These items are melted and made into new metal products.

Alloy wheels icon

Alloy wheels should be taken to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre for recycling

Aluminium Cans icon

Aluminium Foil icon

Clean foil can be placed in your brown recycling bin, or put in the can banks at your nearest Bring Site or Recycling Centre. Please try to reuse foil containers where possible, they make good seed trays.

Antifreeze icon

Please take your bottles of unwanted antifreeze (if possible leave it in the original container) to your nearest Recycling Centre and put them in the chemical waste container. Ask a member of staff for help if you are unsure where this is.

Appliances icon

Appliances

If you are replacing an unwanted appliance, the retailer supplying your new appliance may offer you a take back service. Alternatively you can take your unwanted appliances to your nearest Recycling Centre. Please ensure these are placed in the appropriate container on site. If unsure please ask a member of staff on site. Or contact the Council about its bulky collections service.

Small appliances can also be taken to a number of Bring Site locations or any Council run library across the district.

Asbestos icon

Coal ash can be disposed of in your household rubbish bin. Please wait until it is cold and bag it up before putting it in your bin.
